    Day 01 - Wayanad

Wayanad, located in the Malabar region, is well-connected to major cities of Kerala through roadways. Hence, you can reach this place through a privately hired car with no hassle! Don’t forget to experience the amazing surroundings during your journey to Wayanad. Because, the experience of Wayanad starts from the journey, and not just in the district!
Check-in to your hotel or homestay on the first day of your Wayanad itinerary. Once you have got adequate rest, proceed to visit Banasura Sagar Dam. Considered to be the largest earthen dam in India, and 2nd largest earthen dam in Asia, this place is a must in your Wayand itinerary. The surroundings of the dam are quite spell-bounding. Banasura is apparently the third largest peak in the Western Ghats. Hence, you can be assured of a pleasant sightseeing experience once you go there. The sight of the islands from the dam is quite eye-pleasing. It is easily one of the top beautiful points of this place. This dam is truly an architectural marvel, withstanding a lot of force and pressure since 1979. You simply can’t afford to miss visiting this place!

Once you are done visiting, head back to the hotel and ease the rest of your day in leisure!

No Wayanad itinerary is complete without visiting this sanctuary. This sanctuary is blessed with lush green forests and scenic beauty. This wildlife sanctuary houses several exotic and rare species. You could see White-rumped vulture, Red-headed vulture, Malabar Whistling Thrush, Blue Bearded Bee-eater, and a lot more! Take a binocular to observe these animals and birds as the view is quite stunning. You can also explore the sanctuary through the elephant rides. The elephant rides are organized by the sanctuary itself.
